Zach Kerzee is first year Master of Divinity Student at Harvard Divinity School. Prior to his moving to Cambridge, Zach attended a small Methodist college in Abilene, Texas called McMurry University where he studied Religion and Greek.  After graduation, Zach will seek ordination in the United Methodist Church. Zach is passionate about music and is committed to ministries dedicated to those who live outdoors. He hopes that his position as music director with Outdoor Church of Cambridge will bridge those two passions.

                            LEAH RUMSEY, Student Intern

                            Picture
Leah is originally from Michigan and and graduated from Kalamazoo College in June of 2011. She is currently in her first year of Harvard Divinity School's Master of Divinity Program. She is excited about the idea of outdoor churches in American cities and is considering heading toward either a scholarly career or ministry in the United Church of Christ.

                            ROBIN LUTJOHANN, Student Intern

                            Picture
Born in Berlin, Germany, Robin has lived in Bahrain, Romania, Virginia, and Quebec. Having moved to and fallen in love with Boston and Cambridge, however, he now considers himself equal parts Berliner and Bostonian. He is as big a fan of the Red Sox and Celtics as he is of German soccer. Robin has worked in radio, in food-packaging, and in a cubicle, and the Outdoor Church is by far the best job he's ever had. He also loves being a student and is deeply grateful for the opportunity to follow his greatest passion - the study of religion. His lesser but still great passions include drawing and painting, Middle Eastern food, bluegrass music, translating, and activism. He has been deeply involved in the burgeoning Occupy movement and hopes for a revolution of compassion and justice in this country. Above all, he believes in and hopes for the already present and always coming reign of God in the world, a reality he sees foreshadowed in the beloved community of the Outdoor Church.

                            CASSIE HOUTZ, Student Intern

                            Picture
Cassie's interest in the interplay of religion with ethics, mental health, and social justice led her to Harvard Divinity School, where she is in the second year of the Master’s of Divinity program. Though not currently pursuing ordination, Cassie is considering entering the discernment process for ordination in the Episcopal Church. She was raised in Boulder, CO and received her B.A. from the University of Colorado with a double major in Philosophy and Psychology. In college, she discovered both a love of working with homeless people and an appreciation of the role of spirituality in the strength and resilience it takes to survive on the streets. As an intern with the Outdoor Church, Cassie hopes to merge these two interests, while also continuing to discern what form her future vocation might take. When not busy writing papers, Cassie enjoys live music, swimming, hiking, and reading.

                            THOMAS HATHAWAY, Executive Director

                            Picture
Thomas came on staff as our part-time executive director in the fall of 2011. Originally from the boondocks of central New York state, Thomas took up the ever-so-practical subject of linguistic anthropology during his undergraduate at St. Lawrence University. After spending several years in Japan as a high school English teacher, Thomas entered the M.Div. program at Harvard Divinity School in 2008. During his time there he served the Outdoor Church as an intern and volunteer. He is currently in process for ordination in the United Church of Christ and also works part time as the youth pastor of a local UCC church. He is humbled to be part of a ministry that is so radically committed to living out the central calling of the Christian faith: to witness to love of God for all through Christ and to serve those in need.
